It is their safe haven, their church, and their family.
Liceo Nueva Vida—meaning “New Life School”—is breaking the cycle of poverty, violence, and hopelessness by providing an excellent academic and Christian education to vulnerable and low-income children in the heart of an impoverished community of Bogotá.
Rescuing children from hopelessness
The community where the school is situated faces significant socio-economic challenges, making it one of the most vulnerable in the region. Despite some progress, there is still a long journey ahead to lift families out of poverty and violence.
Even so, our New Life School strives to provide high-quality education so every student has the opportunity to thrive. We have a big vision to see this community flourish—starting with these children.
Meet Matías: a little leader with a big dream
Matías lives with his mother, Jarley, in Soacha—a municipality just outside of Bogotá—in his grandmother’s house.
“It’s the two of us against the world,” says his mom with determination and tenderness. Together, they’ve built a strong, brave, and resilient family.
Three years ago, Jarley had to leave her job due to health issues—and because Matías, as an only child, was spending too much time alone. Liceo Nueva Vida became the place where his story began to change.

Every child at Liceo Nueva Vida carries a story—some marked by poverty, abandonment, or trauma. Yet within each one is incredible potential waiting to be nurtured.
For $43 a month, your sponsorship provides quality education, daily nourishment, emotional and spiritual support, and a safe, loving environment. You will receive letters and updates as you watch them grow in faith, confidence, and opportunity.

Our teachers go beyond academics—creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel seen, loved, and supported. For many students, they are the first consistent source of encouragement they have ever known.
We are seeking teacher sponsors at $900 a month so these Christ-centered educators can care for their own families while pouring into entire classrooms. Churches, businesses, and individuals are invited to step in.
How Teacher and Student Sponsorships Work
Liceo Nueva Vida is a Christian school serving children on the outskirts of Bogotá, operated by our partner, Fundación Karis. Student sponsorships and teacher sponsorships support the same work: keeping the school open, its classrooms staffed, and its tuition within reach of the families it serves.
Sponsorship gifts are pooled with other sponsorship gifts and applied to the school's operating costs, including teaching staff. Your sponsorship is not a payment to or for any individual teacher or student; it is not compensation payable to any teacher, and it is not held in a separate account for any teacher or student. Your gift is made to Impact Initiatives, which retains full discretion and control over how the funds are used.
We make every effort to apply your gift to the school. If the school's needs change, or if the program is fully funded or discontinued, our Board of Directors may apply your gift to another program serving the same general charitable purpose.
If the teacher or student you sponsor is no longer at the school, we will let you know and offer to connect you with another. Your gifts remain with the program and continue to support the school's operations.
