A Child Blooming Among Concrete Jungles

From the Jungle to the Heart of the City

Jack is 12 years old and currently in sixth grade at Liceo Nueva Vida, a school supported by Impact Initiatives. Jack was born in the community of Atana Pirarayame in the heart of Colombia’s Vichada region and proudly belongs to the Piaroa ethnic group—an Indigenous people rooted deep in the jungle.

Five years ago, his family moved to Bogotá with a dream: to build a better future. Jack’s father, a loving and determined man, came to the city with hopes of receiving a professional education so he could one day return to his homeland and invest in the well-being of their community.

Building a New Life

Life in the city hasn’t been easy. Economic conditions are tough, and providing for three children takes daily sacrifice. Yet Jack’s father has remained steady—always prioritizing love, education, and example.

Jack is a remarkable student: responsible, joyful, and disciplined. He consistently excels in academics and is admired for his positive attitude and excellent behavior. At school, he’s known for his bright smile and easy charisma—and for sharing his culture with pride.

He teaches classmates about the food, traditions, and wildlife of his homeland. His stories spark curiosity and build respect for the Indigenous wisdom he carries in his heart.

Seeds of Faith in an Ancestral Child

Perhaps the most profound part of Jack’s journey has been his spiritual growth. Since arriving at Liceo Nueva Vida, a Christian school, he has shown deep interest in knowing God. Each day, he returns home excited to share what he’s learning—about the Bible, about faith, and about values that are now shaping his character.

He dreams of one day returning to his homeland not just with knowledge from school—but with the fire of faith in his heart, ready to share with his people all that he has discovered about God’s love.

Jack is a child blooming among concrete jungles—carrying the ancestral wisdom of his people and the fresh fire of faith, hope, and learning. His story is a testimony of impact, resilience, and future.
