I am very excited to share the great news that we have been able to save our Liceo Nueva School for the school year beginning at the end of January 2025!

As you will recall, we embarked on an urgent fundraising campaign to close a massive budget gap that, if not filled, would require Impact Initiatives and our sister organization, Fundación Karis, to suspend the operation of our life-changing school for hundreds of children in Bogotá, Colombia. As a result of major budget cuts, generous donations, and new sponsorships, the Board of Directors has been able to shrink the budget gap to a point where we are acting in faith to continue the operation of Liceo Nueva Vida in 2025!

While there is still a significant budget gap for 2025, we have a plan that will address this gap and also will sustain the operation of the school in 2026 and beyond. This plan relies on the  generosity of our current and new donors and sponsors who give in the following ways.

Child Sponsorship

We are seeking to fund the education of the children at Liceo Nueva Vida in a significant way through our Child Sponsorship Program. These sponsorships are an essential, predictable, and sustainable source of funding to make it possible for our students lacking the economic means to support the private school education that we provide. We have updated our child sponsorships so that each donor provides support for one student at $43 per month. In doing this, our sponsors will have a 1:1 relationship with the child they support. In 2025, we will be introducing the ability to send messages to your sponsored child and to receive updates through our sponsorship portal.

Teacher Sponsorship

Liceo Nueva Vida has teachers who are dedicated, caring, and skilled. The culture at the school among the teachers and students is one that money just can’t buy. Sadly, our teachers (many of whom are from the impoverished and vulnerable community in which we operate) are paid far below the standard wage for private school teachers. And yet, they come to school at 6 a.m. each morning with love and dedication to selflessly serve our students. Teachers’ salaries account for over 80% of our budget at Liceo Nueva Vida. To address this expense and to provide a more competitive salary, we have created a Teacher Sponsorship Program to help fund a better, living wage for our teachers. We are looking for individuals, businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations to fund one of our teachers at a total cost of $900 per month.

Grants and Donations

Many non-profits like ours depend on the generosity, compassion, and vision of individuals, businesses, foundations, and non-profit organizations to provide big grants and donations to help fund projects and initiatives. If you, your business, or organization would like to know more about how you can fund a large initiative, please contact me at [email protected] to set up an appointment to speak further.

Missions Trips

In 2025, our goal is to conduct 4 mission trips so that churches, schools, university students, and teachers can conduct meaningful and impactful work among our students and their community in Colombia. Details of this program will be forthcoming in the months ahead. If you are interested in participating in this, please contact us.

We are so grateful for what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do as we faithfully steward and administer the treasure He has entrusted to us for the building of His Kingdom and to bring glory to the name of Jesus.  We are unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who is the only hope for mankind. We trust that this message is an encouragement to you to come alongside the work Jesus is doing in Colombia at the Liceo Nueva Vida school.
