Introducing the dedicated individuals driving our mission forward. Each of our board members brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to our organization. Their leadership and expertise are pivotal in guiding our strategic direction and ensuring our continued success.

Steve Cervera

Chairman

Steve is a retired executive with 33 years of professional work experience, 17 of which were with Apple where he served as a senior manager. Steve has also served as the chairman and founder of Mission Fuel which joined Impact Initiatives in 2023 at the invitation of Roberto Chaves, founder of Impact Initiatives. Steve is now the Chairman and President of Impact Initiatives. He has also served in leadership of Men’s Discipleship Network as a board member and remains a senior advisor to the leadership team there. He and his wife have been married for 35 years and have two adult daughters. 

Sammy Chaves

Director

Although Sammy studied International Relations at Wheaton College, he has worked most of his adult life as a pastor. He is currently obtaining his Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. Born and raised in Colombia, and the son of Impact Initiatives founder Roberto Chaves, he spent part of his formative teen years on the mission field in Uruguay with his sister and parents. He has a great heart for the people of Colombia and for the work his father started there. Sammy has recently joined the Impact Initiatives board of directors. Sammy has been married to Cami for eight years, and they have two boys, Fede and Nono.

Jennifer D'Amato

Director

Jennifer is a small business owner and she works in the field of photography. She served on the Mission Fuel board before joining Impact Initiatives in 2023. She is the Chairperson of her church’s missions committee. A mission trip to Nigeria over a decade ago changed Jennifer’s life forever.  Since then she has been to India on a number of missions trips where she has shared her passion for the Word of God, its teachings and God’s love for the nations. She is happily married to Dan for 30+ years and the mother of three grown children.

Jim Frantz

Director

Jim is an US citizen serving abroad as a missionary and has been the Executive Director of Investing Hope Foundation in Colombia since 2014. Investing Hope Foundation promotes community economic development through savings and entrepreneurship groups, and provides Biblically based financial training in Bogota, Colombia. Jim and his wife have been married for more than 35 years and have four children.

Jordan Marsh

Director

Jordan has 30+ years of experience in the medical device field where he currently serves in executive leadership with one of the largest medical device supply companies in the United States. Jordan and his wife of 20+ years have supported and participated in foreign missions to Ecuador and India. Jordan was previously on the Board of Mission Fuel which combined with Impact Initiatives in 2023.

Luis Francisco Mendoza

Treasurer

Luis Francisco is one of the founding members of Impact Initiatives and a friend of Roberto Chaves for many years. Born and raised in Colombia, he is a well respected attorney and business owner in Bogotá. Luis Francisco serves as a trusted advisor to our board. He and his wife Luz Stella Londoño are married for 40+ years and are part of the Bible study group initiated in 1987 by our founder Roberto Chaves and his wife Maria Luisa.

Oscar Norberto Reyes Pla

Secretary

Oscar Norberto Reyes Pla is a Lawyer who has been practicing the profession independently since 1973. He has been legal advisor to non-profit entities and Christian religious entities since 1994. Oscar is a member of the Council of Elders of the Unicentro Christian Confraternity Church in Bogotá for more than 18 years. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American College in the 20 de Julio neighborhood in Bogotá, with which he has collaborated for more than 20 years. He is a member of the Council of the Christian Confraternity Church in Colombia and legal advisor of the Federation of Christian Confraternity Churches in Colombia, for more than 25 years. Due to a call from the Lord Jesus Christ to social service as an instrument for the extension of his Kingdom, and a friendship of more than 20 years with Roberto Chaves and Maria Luisa Moros, he has participated in the Board of Directors of Impact Initiatives Inc. since its acquisition by the Chaves Moros family in 2014. He is married to Lucy Navarrete de Reyes since 1972, they have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren.

Naomi Peyton

Director

Naomi is a professional educator. She has been teaching and leading in public and private schools for over 30 years. Twenty-four of those years were served at Calvary Christian Academy (CCA) in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she was part of the founding administration. At CCA, she has led in varied roles: Assistant Principal, MS Principal, Accreditation Director and most recently, the Int’l Student Program (ISP) as Director.  Through her international work, she has presented in China, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, and Colombia to partner with churches and agents so that children around the globe could study in the States for their 8th grade to 12th grade academy experience. Naomi also developed the ISP Homestay program that provides Christian housing and care for the needs of these pioneers during their stay in the USA. Naomi and her husband Derek have been married since 1993 and they have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and their first grandson Javier. Naomi has a Bachelors in English Education, a Masters in Educational Leadership and is presently a seminary student at Knox Theological Seminary. Her passion is studying His Word, making Him known, and loving her family. 

Kelly Russo

Director and Chief Financial Officer

Kelly Russo is a pastor, leader, ministry consultant, conference speaker, wife and mom. With a background in corporate sales, marketing and leadership, her career expands over several industries including finance, market research, and ministry, which bring a unique skillset to Impact Initiatives and the communities it serves. She also served as the Executive Pastor for one of Long Island’s largest churches where she applied her executive skills to lead operations there.

Guillermo Novoa

Consultant to the Board of Directors

Guillermo Novoa is part of the pastoral team of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. He received a Master’s Degree in Ministry from Prairie Bible Graduate School in Alberta, Canada and a Master’s Degree in Hispanic Studies from “Universidad Complutense de Madrid” in Spain.
Guillermo and his wife Patricia have been married over 41 years have two sons.  He and his family have served the Lord for over 44 years in various roles including National Director of Prison Fellowship Colombia, Action International Ministries in Canada as Latin America Liaison, Decision Evangelistic Association in Madrid, Spain as missionary and church planter, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale as Assistant pastor and Multicultural Director, and Operation Rescue the Children Inc. as Vice president of Development. Guillermo is an important and valued consultant to our board of directors.
